Vote boost planned for Uber and Lyft (wait ... is that even on the ballot?)

No, there is not a city, county, or state proposition involving transportation network companies such as Uber, Lyft, and others.

But District 6 City Councilman Don Zimmerman unveiled a compelling plan at a meeting Monday night: using early voting turnout on an otherwise slow day as a means to gauge support for Uber and Lyft.

Cahnman's Musings has more.

... At tonight's meeting of Texans for Accountable Government, Austin City Council member Don Zimmerman came up with an idea we wish he'd thought of two months ago.
Where Ron Paul's campaign created the concept of the "moneybomb," Zimmerman proposes a #VoteBomb where supporters of Uber and Lyft, opponents of the Travis County Courthouse proposal, and supporters of Property tax relief (State of Texas Prop 1) vote en masse on this Thursday.
It's VERY late in the game, and we don't expect much from this, but it's a shot worth taking ...

And it appears the Councilman is officially seeking input on the plan.

Early voting is drawing in around 1,500 Travis County voters per day, which isn't unusual for a November ballot, but is still on the low side.

We'll be tracking this development as it unfolds.

UPDATES
(10/29): Team Zimmerman is going for it! Our calls and emails to Uber and Lyft public relations have not been responded to.

(10/30): It worked!  Maybe only a modest boost, but that Thursday did set the early voting record for this election.
