TxTag offers motorists breakfast tacos

CEDAR PARK -- Last legislative session it was revealed that 30,000 TxTag users were not billed correctly and as many as 3.5 million motorists were not billed on time. Oops.

Perhaps that's a reason why the Central Texas Mobility Authority hosted a Customer Appreciation Day at the now-unused 183-A checkpoint gantry toll plaza just north of the Travis County line in Cedar Park. We just had to investigate.

A sign reading "free tacos" during this morning's rainy commute led curious motorists into the former cash lanes where they received Tacodeli breakfast tacos and a "Traffic Relief Kit" courtesy of the way-finding app Metropia. See the picture above for what the free swag bags contained.

Regardless of the reason for the promotion, considering the increasingly high cost of toll roads in Texas, and given the fact that they're operated by semi-governmental agencies, we're delighted to see an effort to put the consumers first. This is a positive step.
