Is the persistence of the downtown Austin liberal establishment in building an unnecessarily large civil courthouse in a congested area an example of political courage or "mulish stupidity?"
... Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt appeared oblivious amid the electoral wreckage on Tuesday night. After all the excuse-making and rationalizations, the tone-deaf Eckhardt vowed to push for a new version of the courthouse, at even greater expense.
“We need this badly enough for me to take the hit. Sometimes you’ve just got to be brave,” she declared.
Bravery should not be confused with mulish stupidity.
