Dickey: Carson can win undecided voters if he stands firm

From his opinion on ancient Egyptian pyramids to his denominational affiliation to his recollection of whether he was offered a scholarship to West Point, presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson has been the subject of an overabundance of media interrogation on relatively minor issues, lately.

"There's a double standard at play here," said James Dickey, Chairman of the Travis County GOP on the Fox 7 News Edge Monday evening. "... There was nowhere near as much [media] scrutiny given to our President when he ran."

JD Gins, executive director of the Travis County Democratic Party, appearing alongside Dickey, suggested the current Administration has had plenty of screening by the press, especially concerning the Benghazi attacks and who was responsible. Dickey retorted it was Congress which had to investigate Benghazi because the media would not.

Dickey added that Carson has weathered the media storm well. Overcoming attacks on presidential candidates will help win over undecided swing voters, he predicted.

Other news "investigations" this campaign cycle on presidential candidates include a story about Gov. Bobby Jindal attending an exorcism (gasp!), fmr. Gov. Jeb Bush using alcohol and drugs in prep school, and Sen. Marco Rubio's traffic fines. And attacks on Donald Trump have done little to phase his standing in public opinion polls.
