A second Travis County DA prosecutor arrested for alleged drunk driving

What Democratic Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg does with yet another drunk driving situation in her ranks is anyone's guess.

But Lehmberg Watchdog Kerry O'Brien is certain that prosecutor Erika Hansen will get a walk.

"Again, above 0.15, just like Lehmberg and another ADA, so it's a higher-offense Class A misdemeanor charge. Like, really drunk. She apparently hit a parked car, luckily it wasn't a pedestrian, but no big deal. She's got nothing to worry about - 'Second-Chances Lehmberg' is going to cover for her - but I'm sure the first thing Lehmberg will ask her is: 'Why did you do the breath test? Haven't I taught you anything?' ..."

According to Fox 7 Austin, Hansen, employed as an assistant district attorney since March, was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly crashing into a parked car in the East Seventh Street bar district. And after two pints of beer (Uber, anyone? They haven't been run out of Austin, yet). Hansen has not been placed on a leave of absence, according to Fox 7.

Travis County voters have an alternative to Lehmberg's administration and the political party that refuses to take sufficient disciplinary action. Austinites casting a ballot do not have to vote for the same good-ol' boy (and girl) politics that actually defended Lehmberg's perch as head of the Texas "Public Integrity Unit." They no longer have to blindly support the next nominee of the same corrupt party that is abusing our courts system to take political revenge on Gov. Rick Perry for standing up to Lehmberg and removing funding for her unit.

The sole Republican contender is Maura Phelan, appearing on the Travis County Republican ballot. Early voting begins Tuesday, Feb. 16, and primary election day is March 1.
