Lehmberg questioned about lack of response to Kocurek shooting threat

It appears the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing in Travis County District Court. According to the Statesman, District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg could have known there was a threat to District Judge Julie Kocurek's life:
"District Judge Julie Kocurek went to the Travis County criminal courthouse Thursday for the first time since she was attacked outside her home Nov. 6.
"She and other judges say they did not find out about a threat called into District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg's office three weeks before Kocurek was shot. They met privately with Lehmberg and Sheriff Greg Hamilton on Thursday for two hours.
"District Judge Brenda Kennedy, who called the meeting, said it became clear that Lehmberg and Hamilton weren't told about the threat by their staffs."

"Just when you thought that Travis County D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg couldn't be a bigger disgrace ..., this," said columnist and retired attorney Mark Pulliam via Facebook. "And Rick Perry faces a felony indictment for seeking her resignation? Surely she is the worst D.A. in America. Maybe the worst elected official. Drunk, criminal, inept, partisan. An embarrassment in every respect."

Voters have a chance to thoroughly clean house on March 1, by electing Maura Phelan as District Attorney, who does not represent the downtown county courthouse establishment. Nor does Don Clemmer -- the GOP candidate for District Judge -- support the old way of doing business.

We recommend all Travis County voters, regardless of political party preference, cast a vote for some fresh leadership in the DA's office.
