Zimmerman launches new radio show

Former City Councilman Don Zimmerman just wrapped up the first episode of his new radio show, "The Taxpayers Voice of Reason."

The two-hour show, to air Saturdays at 3 p.m. on "The Bridge," KTXW-AM, 1120, today featured in-studio guests former Republican candidate for HD 46 Gabriel Nila and this writer as today's co-host. Bob Phillips, host of the station's evening drive program, called in to congratulate Zimmerman on his radio venture.

Callers included local attorney David Rogers addressing immigration and Travis County GOP Chairman James Dickey summarizing his view on local reactions to the presidential inauguration.

A description from the show's website:

The Taxpayers’ Voice of Reason is the most engaging and informative call-in radio talk show from the average taxpayer and small business owner’s perspective. As a long time fiscal conservative activist and former Austin City Council member, radio show host Don Zimmerman explains from experience how politicians and un-elected bureaucrats advance their “Progressive” religion (which they call “community values”).  That religion is imposed through targeted fees, taxes and ordinances; Zimmerman explains how voters can stop un-affordable, unsustainable city government through campaigns, candidates and referendums, and connects dots between Progressive/humanist policy and cultural degradation.

"The Bridge" is a relatively new player on the Austin radio block, bringing evangelical Christian talk and a smattering of conservative politics to the Capital City airwaves. According to its description:
Broadcasting into 46 Central Texas Counties with nearly 3,000,000 people, Our mission is to be a bridge of hope, encouraging listeners to grow in their love and faith with God and one another through programming that impacts, informs and inspires.  Plus, The Bridge 1120 presents the news and information you want and shows that equip you and your family with healthy lifestyle and financial insight.
For you techies, The Bridge broadcasts at 5,600 watts during the day and kicks down to 155 at night. It's owned by GLG Media of Pflugerville and has its transmitter in Manor, but has a repeater transmitter in Copperas Cove.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Zimmerman will retain his Saturday afternoon time slot for at least three months and will be broadcast through 2017. Zimmerman said he has hopes of syndicating the show, and will podcast the episodes on his site.

Thumbs up
